Qualification Masters Degree from Pakistan is considered equivalent to UK Graduation and hence would not be awarded any points unless the graduation prior to Masters degree is of four years duration. However, ACCA and CIMA are at par with the UK Masters degree. Hence, after 30 March 2009 only those applications would get points for qualification who have either a masters degree from abroad or a masters degree from Pakistan as explained above.

Earning Normally earning of 12 consecutive months out of the last 15 months prior to Tier-1 application are to be shown. For example, if application is filed in February 2009 the period of last 15 months covers the period from November 2007 to January 2009. Out of aforesaid period earning of any consecutive 12 months are to be claimed. For illustration, for the aforesaid period of 15 months option of following earning periods of 12 months are available: From November 2007 to October 2008 From December 2007 to November 2008 From January 2008 to December 2008 From February 2008 to January 2009
Evidence of Earning In case of salaried persons the evidence of earning would be any two documents out of the following three: 1. 12 Salary Slips or Employer's Certificate detailing salary of 12 months. 2. Personal Bank Statement of 12 months evidencing credit of salary. 3. Income Tax Return duly filed with the Department. The evidence of income tax return is available only if it exactly matches to 12 months of earning period. Accordingly, for illustration tax return of Tax Year 2009 can only be used as an evidence if earning period is from July 2008 to June 2009 and Tier-1 application is being filed during the period from July 2008 to October 2009.
In case of self employed person or business income the evidence of earning would be the following: 1. Un-audited accounts certified by the applicant himself and should be on the pattern of audited accounts. 2. Letter from the accountant certifying gross and net earning. 3. All the invoices issued and explanation thereof. 4. Bank Statement where receipts corresponding to the invoices are credited. The overseas earnings are to be converted into Pound Sterling as per closing spot exchange rate on OANDA website at www.oanda.com for the last day of the earning period of 12 months. If the earnings are in Pakistan then the amount of Pound Sterling as converted above is to be multiplied with factor of 5.3 to arrive at a corresponding figure of UK earnings.
Points required for English Language 10 If the degree was taught in English then requirement of English language is fulfilled but this factum of recognition of medium of instruction must be ascertained from the database of the Home Office, UK available on their website. Otherwise, IELTS band score of 6.5 would meet the requirement.
Points required for Maintenance Fund 10 In case of application outside UK, 2800 GBP are required by the main applicant and these should be available for the last three months. In case of Spouse and Dependents further funds of 1600 GBP per head are required. In case of application from within UK the aforesaid amounts are 800 GBP and 533 GBP respectively.
Extension / Indefinite Leave to Remain Initial Visa would be for three years and if one travels within 28 days of stamping of Visa / Entry Clearance, there is a definite advantage. Thereafter there would be extension for two years again on the basis of aforesaid attributes wherein UK earning would be the main factor.
After five years of stay in UK one would be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain there. In this case, the main criteria would be the stay in UK besides passing Life in UK Test.
